AW Hainsworth Launches 2025 Sustainability Report

9th July 2026

At AW Hainsworth, sustainability has always been about more than meeting targets. It’s about making meaningful improvements, investing in the future, and ensuring that our business continues to thrive for generations to come.

Today, we’re proud to launch our 2025 Sustainability Report, sharing the progress we’ve made over the past year across our environmental, social and governance commitments.

As a British textile manufacturer with more than 240 years of heritage, we recognise that our responsibility extends beyond the fabrics we produce. Our commitment is to reduce our environmental impact, support our people and communities, and operate with transparency and integrity.

Our report highlights the actions we’ve taken throughout 2025, the results we’ve achieved, and the opportunities that lie ahead as we continue our journey towards Net Zero.

Driving Environmental Progress

Throughout 2025, we continued to invest in initiatives that reduce our environmental impact while improving operational efficiency.

Some of this year’s highlights include:

  • 15.3% reduction in Scope 1 and 2 carbon emissions
  • Zero waste sent to landfill
  • ISO 14001 Environmental Management certification
  • Continued investment in renewable technologies and energy efficiency
  • Expansion of our heat recovery system at Atkinson Dyeing, delivering significant reductions in gas and electricity consumption

These improvements reflect our long-term approach to responsible manufacturing, ensuring that sustainability is embedded into our day-to-day operations rather than treated as a standalone initiative.

Investing in Our People

Sustainability isn’t just about the environment it’s also about our people.

Throughout 2025, we continued to invest in employee wellbeing, training and development, creating an inclusive workplace where people can build long and rewarding careers.

The report explores initiatives including:

  • Our new employee Values Reward Scheme
  • Leadership development and apprenticeships
  • Mental health support and counselling
  • Diversity, Equality and Inclusion initiatives
  • Community volunteering and charitable partnerships

These programmes reinforce our belief that investing in people is essential to building a resilient and sustainable business.

Strengthening Governance and Responsible Manufacturing

Good governance provides the foundation for sustainable growth.

During 2025 we strengthened our environmental management systems, expanded our quality capabilities and continued to improve health and safety across the business.

Achieving ISO 14001 certification represents a significant milestone, demonstrating our commitment to continually improving our environmental performance through internationally recognised best practice.

Alongside this, we continued to strengthen our approach to ethical sourcing, quality assurance and responsible manufacturing across our supply chain.

Looking Ahead

While we’re proud of the progress made during 2025, we know sustainability is an ongoing journey.

Looking ahead, our focus remains on:

  • Reducing operational emissions
  • Improving efficiency through innovation and investment
  • Supporting our employees and communities
  • Strengthening partnerships across the textile industry
  • Continuing our journey towards Net Zero

Every improvement, no matter how large or small, contributes to creating a stronger and more sustainable future for our business, our customers and our industry.

Our 2025 Sustainability Report provides a transparent overview of the progress we’ve made, the challenges we’ve faced, and the actions we’re taking to build a more sustainable future.
